They grow together and create a bond like no other, but their relationship finds itself threatened when a stranger with alarming information comes into their life and destroys everything. Hilary Swank puts on a performance that you will remember for a long time to come, and with a rating of 91%, we can promise you won’t be disappointed.

Movie #2: Bird Box (2018)

When Bird Box first premiered, it was all everybody could talk about, and if you have seen this apocalyptic film already, you probably get the hype! Bird Box is a story like no other, and will have you blocking your eyes, but glued to the screen all at once. In a world where a unique force has taken over the population, you have one job - don’t look at it. Sandra Bullock, who plays Malorie goes through a rough journey of trying to protect her child from this entity as she travels through wood, forest, and rivers without her eyes to guide her (yep, she’s blindfolded) in hopes of finding a sanctuary where a new beginning awaits.

Movie #3: #Alive (2020)

Joon-woo thinks he is the only survivor of a horrific virus that has spread through Seoul in Korea by flesh-eating zombies. In hopes of staying safe from the virus-infected zombies, he decides to lock himself in his apartment (sounds familiar minus the zombies, right!?). He soon discovers another survivor and begins to see light at the end of the tunnel. We can safely say that this is one of the best apocalyptic movies on Netflix if you are looking for something with a modern twist. Movie #4: What Happened to Monday (2017)

Fast forward to 2043, when a one-child policy has been implemented due to severe overpopulation across the globe due to genetically modified food. Every child born after the first is placed in a cryosleep (wondering what cryosleep is? Don’t worry, check out the concept!) This movie follows a family with identical septuplets who try to avoid the consequences of having more than one child as they search for one of their one simulatensouly.

Movie #5: The Girl With All the Gifts (2016)

Melanie discovers she is one of the few children immune to a fungal disease that has run through the globe and has transformed most of the population into living-dead, flesh eating creatures who have no remorse. This gifted young girl takes matters into her own hands, and with the help of her teacher, sets off to save mankind and the promise of a better tomorrow. The Girl With All the Gifts is a unique take compared to many other post apocalyptic movies on Netflix, but one that should not be overlooked!
