The Punisher is a Marvel superhero vigilante, who first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 (1974). The Punisher was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita Sr., with publisher Stan Lee signing off on the concept. In addition to being an ex-military man, he's also known as Frank Castle—a former Marine and Navy Seal who was trained by the military to become an assassin.

The Punisher has appeared multiple times across various media platforms including television shows like Netflix's Daredevil as well as video games like Spider Man 2: The Game from 2004. In all of them, he uses brutal tactics to bring down criminals and other people who do bad things—which usually involves killing them!

Daredevil

Daredevil is arguably the most popular of Marvel's Netflix shows, and for good reason. It stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer by day who uses his heightened senses to fight crime at night. The show premiered in 2015 and was created by Drew Goddard and Steven S. DeKnight, who drew inspiration from Frank Miller's iconic comic book run on the character.

It's easy to see why this show has been so successful: it takes advantage of its setting (New York City) while also injecting some much-needed grit into superhero storytelling. Daredevil has been nominated for several awards, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in 2017; it also picked up a Peabody Award this year for "the understated visual style [that] heightens the drama."
