The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of the most iconic stories in all of cinema history, and its influence on pop culture has been massive. The Hobbit Trilogy is a series of three epic fantasy-adventure films directed by Peter Jackson. Based on the 1937 novel The Hobbit, written by JRR Tolkien and published by George Allen & Unwin Publishers, the films feature Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Orlando Bloom as Legolas Greenleaf and Cate Blanchett as Galadriel.

The first film was released in 2012 and was followed by two more installments in 2013 and 2014 respectively. It follows Bilbo Baggins (Freeman) who joins forces with a group of dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Armitage) on an epic quest to retrieve their homeland from Smaug.

It's so popular that it has led to multiple sequels and prequels as well as spinoff films such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). Again, this is probably a movie that you’ve seen before, so instead of enjoying it for the first time, you can rewatch this classic when you’re feeling nostalgic.

If you love Lord of the Rings, then you'll likely enjoy The Golden Compass. The Golden Compass is a fantasy film released in 2007 based on the first book of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.

This movie is set in an alternate universe where humans have animal companions called daemons. The protagonist Lyra Belacqua travels to the Arctic with her guardian Mrs. Coulter to help rescue kidnapped children and figure out how to save her best friend Roger from being placed in a mental hospital for harboring thoughts about his daemon (his inner voice). Lyra must make important decisions about who to trust in order to prevent an evil force from taking over the world through Dust—a substance that allows people's daemons to talk telepathically with one another across long distances.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is set in Narnia, where four siblings are sent to live with their uncle during World War II. While there, they discover a wardrobe that transports them to another land called Narnia. When two of their siblings get trapped in this magical place by a wicked witch (Tilda Swinton), it's up to Aslan (voice of Liam Neeson) to save them from her clutches.

This film is great for fans of Lord of the Rings because it has an epic battle sequence at the end between good and evil that will make you feel like you're part of something bigger than yourself! Plus all four actors who played Peter Pevensie as children—Georgie Henley, William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, and Skandar Keynes—are back together again as adults in another fantasy film called The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle which came out in 2020.

Pan's Labyrinth is a 2006 Spanish-Mexican fantasy film that tells the story of Ofelia, who lives with her pregnant mother in an old mill during the Spanish Civil War. When she meets a fawn in the woods, he takes her to an enchanted world where she must complete three tasks before she can return home. The movie won three Oscars and two BAFTAs, so it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for movies like Lord of the Rings.
