Joker 2: What We Know So Far
Joker has a hold over many DC fans, and it is easy to see why. If you found yourself grasping onto hope that you would get an extra helping of Joker, you are in luck because the sequel has been confirmed and we couldn’t be more excited!
Director Todd Philips recently set the record straight that the script for Joker 2 was in the works, and has recently been completed. If you loved Joker as much as we did, then this will be music to your ears too.

Joker 2 Title Meaning
The title of the sequel is “Joker: Folie à deux”, and if you are asking yourself “what does that mean?”, not to worry, many are asking the same question! As we know from the original, first Joker movie, mental health issues play a central part in the story and are critical to the Joker’s character. Thus, this title is referring to a medical term that is used to describe a mental health disorder that impacts more than one person, such as members of the same family.

Who Would Be The New Characters
Oh, the cast… a question that lots of us have been awaiting answers to. The cast of the first Joker was loved for bringing the characters to live in a way that was unique to other DC movies. Many are excited to see where Joker 2’s cast will take us, and we can’t wait either.
From what we know, Joaquin Phoenix will be back to play the Joker (as we had expected, he did win an Oscar for first performance!), but there will be some shake-ups in this sequel. We can look forward to Lady Gaga hitting our screens this time around as she takes on the role of Harley Quinn.
We can also expect actors such as Zazie Beetz and Douglas Hodge to return to the big screen, as we are still waiting to hear confirmations about others.
The Plot
In terms of what route this sequel is going to take, we are yet to get any locked down details but we know that whatever is in store is going to be good!
Of course, the title gives us some clues, but again, mental health is a theme that no one will be surprised about. However, we can also take some clues on how the first Joker ended, remember the scene of him locked up in Arkham State Hospital after causing mayhem in Gotham City? Many are expecting the next movie to open where it leaves off, but only time will tell!
Joker 2 Release Date Rumors
So, when can we finally sit down and feast our eyes on Joker 2? Unfortunately, we are not sure, but speculation is around some time in 2023. Although there is some time to wait until we get to dive into the next chapter of the Joker’s life, it gives us plenty of time to rewatch the first joker, and relive some other epic DC masterpieces!
